Bagru is about comfort, softness, elegance, and love.

The soft cotton cloth of women’s churidars, accentuated with small block prints of flowers or plants that are usually worn for comfort.

The Bagru print reminds me of carefully folded piles of freshly washed churidar sets, white ones with blocks of blue leaves, or red ones adorned with blocks of black and brown outlined motifs.

A single element, for example, an abstract flower, or an abstract cacti shape that is repeated all over the fabric is the characteristic of the Bagru print.

The name Bagru print comes from Bagru, a small town situated 32 km south-west of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and is famous for its traditional hand block printed fabrics. Bagru printing is done with natural colours and ethnic floral patterns, followed by Chippas, a small community living in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
